| It was below freezing on MLK Day, and a dozen volunteers were outside building downspout planters to prepare for our spring Block Builds. Sponsored by the Philadelphia Water Department, these devices help homeowners manage stormwater. This mitigates the water that ends up in basements, relieves the burden on Philadelphia's combined sewer system, and ultimately reduces utility bills. Other volunteers spread throughout the building, painting spaces to support Face to Face's after school and community programs. Thank you! You can see more photos here. |
Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and masons — we need you! As we look toward the spring Block Builds, we're recruiting skilled volunteers to devote a day or half day to complete pre-work on a project in West Philadelphia or in Germantown. Or, come out on a Rebuilding Day, and work alongside general volunteers during the actual Block Builds on March 23, 24, 30, and 31 and on April 21 and 28. If you're interested, contact Jim directly at jim@rebuildingphilly.org or 215.965.0777. You can learn more about our skilled volunteer needs here. |
Arrange your calendars now!
