Over the past two decades, RTP volunteers have contributed more than 280,000 hours to make essential repairs for more than 750 homeowners. Celebrate this anniversary year in true RTP style – volunteer! The first opportunity of 2008 is MLK Day – January 21. This spring calls for teams to support a series of rebuilding activities. You also can get involved behind the scenes, building awareness and raising funds for RTP.

Our “Block Build” focus is underway for the second year. In West Philadelphia, AARP's sponsorship is anchoring an intense and concentrated focus on the West Shore community. In North Philadelphia, Opus East, LLC is anchoring the repairs for homeowners in the Fairhill/Lower Kensington section of the City through its sponsorship and volunteer leadership. Veteran house management teams, including Wharton and Penn students, continue their ongoing commitment and will be joined by new volunteers groups to provide additional muscle and resources. Under the 11-month leadership of Gary Officer, President of Rebuilding Together, Inc., RT National is focused on winning the ultimate “end game” of preserving affordable homeownership. Gary is asserting RT's rightful place as a major player in the national housing scene and enhancing support for the 240-wide affiliate network. RTP delegates to the national conference held in December learned what is on the horizon – significant national sponsorships; a new training institute; a refined affiliate partnership agreement, and other activities designed to impact local communities.
