Project Punchlist

Have a few hours to volunteer, a small group, or maybe some time during the week? The list below is our list of "loose ends" and recent projects that we are looking for help to complete. Consider taking on a project or two from this list, to help us complete our commitments to these homeowners (most require semi-skilled to skilled knowledge of home repairs):

  • Install two exterior motion lights to light up a new community garden and a vacant lot in Germantown, for added safety
  • Install two celing fans to help keep an elderly Germantown resident cool this summer
  • Move a light switch so a single mother in Walnut Hill can rest assured her children can independently turn on the basement light
  • Weed and mow a lot in the Walnut Hill neighborhood

To volunteer for one of these projects, contact Carrie Rathmann at 215.888.9975 or carrie@rebuildingphilly.org, and complete a volunteer application here.

Lacking in home repairs skills, but still want to help? Here are some other projects for volunteers:

  • Check our voicemail box on a weekly basis, so that we can send out applications to homeowners
  • Warehouse inventory, cleanup or tool check (these jobs are perfect for a small group)

Contact Jen Wootten at 302.234.2045 or jenw@rebuildingphilly.org to help behind the scenes.

Upcoming Rebuilding Days

General volunteers (as well as semi-skilled and skilled volunteers) are needed to pitch in at these day-long rebuilding events:

Saturday, June 5, Popular Mechanics Block Build in Germantown: we'll need help with landscaping, basic repairs/painting, energy efficiency upgrades, runners, and volunteer support. This is the culmination of a project which is helping this block of Garfield Street "go green". You can read more about this exciting project here.

Wednesday, June 30, Sears Heroes at Home Rebuilding Day in Germantown: volunteers can help put the finishing touches on this project. The homeowner will be welcoming her son home from Germany soon, after his fourth tour of duty for the army in four years.

To join us for a Rebuilding Day, contact Jen Wootten at 302.234.2045 or jenw@rebuildingphilly.org , and complete a volunteer application here.
