Volunteer Spotlight - Craig Dillman

Craig has been a skilled leader at RTP Block Builds since early 2014. Originally from Rochester, NY, Craig lived in Pittsburgh while studying for his MBA at Carnegie Mellon University. After a brief time back in New York, he then moved to Philadelphia and bought a “fixer-upper” in South Philly. What are your hobbies? “I enjoy doing home improvement projects and building furniture. I enjoy the process of turning something into my creation.” You’ve renovated the entire kitchen. Are you into cooking? “Not really - I have to cook to

Volunteer Spotlight: Dawn Anderson

Meet Dawn Anderson, homeowner and volunteer! Dawn recently volunteered at the Kensington Block Build and is a homeowner whom RTP worked with during the North Fairhill St. Block Build in 2016. Dawn is grateful for the work done in her home, especially in her kitchen because she loves to cook and bake. She is a professional baker at Tiffany’s Bakery, which has donated cakes and pastries to RTP in the past. “I also love sending over treats to the staff and volunteers just to show how much I appreciate all the effort that goes into a Block Build.” Dawn decided to volunteer after seeing the work that went into a Block Build. “This Build, I learned how to put together flower boxes. Volunteer Spotlight: Rachel Dierking

Meet Rachel Dierking, volunteer and supporter extraordinaire! Rachel has volunteered with the Run to Rebuild (R2R) Committee for six years and encourages others to join, saying, “It’s rewarding to see it all come together on Run Day.” She adds “I see how critical this event is to funding the Block Builds… boxes and boxes of flooring, five-gallon buckets of paint, grab bars, shower heads…” the list goes on. Rachel has become an invaluable member of the Block Build crews as well. "[I am] reminded about all the cool stuff I have had an opportunity to learn and do, from OT help, to cleaning up green spaces, to serving lunch and carrying boxes of flooring. There really is something for everyone."
