Run to Rebuild IX

Over 300 runners, walkers and supporters celebrated our finish line – a safe and healthy home for every person at Run to Rebuild on May 18th. We raised approximately $50,000, which will help us conduct significant health and safety repairs for vulnerable homeowners in our community! You can see 5K results from 2019 here. Homeowner Spotlight - Vanessa Wallace-Tervalon

Meet Vanessa Wallace-Tervalon, a homeowner we are working with this June in the Haddington neighborhood. Mrs. Wallace-Tervalon has lived in her home for 18 years. She has worked in the healthcare industry for over 40 years. Originally from Philadelphia, Mrs. Wallace-Tervalon has lived in 21 countries, including Spain - which was her favorite. In her spare time, Mrs. Wallace-Tervalon stays involved in her community by helping to keep the block clean, volunteering to feed the homeless and serving on ACHIEVEability’s Neighborhood Advisory Sub-Committee. Homeowner Spotlight - Sandra Jenkins

Meet Sandra Jenkins, a homeowner we are working with this spring in the Parkside neighborhood. Originally from Concord, North Carolina, Mrs. Jenkins has lived in her home for 49 years, where she and her late husband, Tyrone, raised three sons. She has worked in nursing homes and hospitals for over 20 years. When asked what she loves most about her home, she says “My children were raised here, and the neighbors are great!” She also adds that her community is more like family. Over the years, Mrs. Jenkins' home has experienced some wear and tear. At 71 years of age, she suffers from bronchitis and rheumatoid arthritis.
