Spotlight on Matt Treat

June 26, 2017

“There is such a need for an organization like RTP in Philadelphia. I love being part of a program that is helping to revitalize neighborhoods one block at a time.”

Since August 2016, you may have seen Matt taking supply orders, flyering a block, answering your questions or even compacting the dumpster! For the past 11 months, Matt has been a huge help with homeowner outreach, scheduling, warehouse organization and more. Matt does it all with a smile and without complaint. His favorite part of the job  -- and the most challenging -- is the Block Builds. The end of each rebuilding day is so rewarding to him. Matt loves interacting with the homeowners, the volunteers, and his co-workers. He enjoys seeing the faces of homeowners when repairs are completed, like when Fairhill Street homeowner Helen Smith was overjoyed upon receiving new kitchen cabinets. During a recent call from a homeowner, Matt provided a resource that helped the homeowner replace her furnace. A simple thank you call made his day. Matt is looking forward to our fall Block Build in Kensington where RTP will be working on 33 houses. We are looking forward to Matt’s transition from AmeriCorps Member to staff member on July 1st, and of course, his ham sandwiches!
