Matt Guinan first volunteered with RTP in 2011. He appreciated that volunteering with Rebuilding
Together Philadelphia meant working for a program that involved his local community, in addition to being able to put his construction and project leadership skills to use to help and work alongside a homeowner. He felt the experience was even more meaningful because he got to the know the homeowner and her family. Matt reached out to RTP in early 2017, because at this time he wanted to get his team at PennFIRST involved. PennFIRST is a group of organizations that are working together to build the new Penn Hospital. Since his group is working on a major project in West Philadelphia with Penn Medicine, it felt like a natural fit: the perfect way to give back to the community, provide an opportunity to team build and foster camaraderie. The experience could not have been better for his group. By the end of the three-day April Block Build great relationships were formed and more importantly every person asked, “When are we doing this again?”.
Matt was so excited by the homeowner and Block Build experience and “an amazing opportunity to give back” that he has gotten both LF Driscoll and PennFIRST to support two houses in Belmont this April 6th, 7th and 8th. We are excited to have them as part of our 30th anniversary in West Philly.
