In honor of Veteran’s Day, RTP and students of the Vo-Tech in the House! program made repairs to the home of James Bruce, who has lived in this home near Strawberry Mansion for 33 years. James is an Army Reserves Veteran who served from 1980-1985.
Mr. Bruce suffers from epilepsy and was in need of several critical repairs that prevented him from living safely and comfortably in his home.
The Vo-Tech team made Mr. Bruce’s home safer, healthier and energy-efficient by:
Patching up damaged drywall in the rear bedroom;
Repairing subfloor in the second floor hallway;
Installing durable vinyl plank flooring;
Placing grab bars in the bathtub and above the commode; and
Adding a handrail along the basement stairs.
Mr. Bruce collects early jazz, gospel and R&B albums and proudly shows off the intricate, ceramic street scenes he crafted over the years.
We thank our neighbor, Mr. Bruce, for his service to our nation!
